I Just finished reading "Humming Whispers" by Angela Johnson. In My book there is a young girl who her sister has been hospitalized before for strange behavior. Her sister Nicole, hears whispers that noone else can hear but her. She does very strange and random things. Nicoles doctors have diagnoised her with Schizophrenia. this has been happening to nicole since she was 14yr old and now she is 25! Her sister sophie who is 14 is scared this will happen to her.
Has anyone else read This book?

In Humming Whispers, does the author talk about the family members' reaction to Nicole's psychological disorder?

ReplyDeleteThis book sounds very interesting. It sounds like it has a lot going on. I haven't read the book but it sounds like something that would catch my attension. Did they do anything to her sister to help her with her Schizophrenia while she was in the hospital? Is Schizophrenia passed on genetically?
Thank you for commenting:) Nicole lives with her younger sister and her aunt, both of her parents have passed away . her aunt is always there for her and a very carining person. Its her younger sister who is concered and scared but she just hopes it will soon all go away and that nicole will get better.

ReplyDeleteWhen Nicoles family took her into the hospital it was because of her strange behavior it was then the Doc. diagnoised her with Schizophrenia, in the book they dont really say what exactly happend in the hospital it just mentioned she had been hospitalized previously.. and to answer your question yes schizophrenia can be passed on gentically or it can also devolpe depending on the enviroment your in
This sounds like a good book. But, like you said schizophrenia is genetic so really her sister shouldn't have anything to worry about. I just think her sister might be scared that she will start to hear voices like her.

ReplyDeleteYea her sister is afraid of it shizophrenia can be gentic and something you develop i guess depending on the enviroment your in. her sister is just afraid of the same thing happing to her since she is 14 yr and thats the age nicole started hearing these voices
